Back to Boston

batmobile

It was a great week away down in Georgia definitely some good times, good food, and of course… Good beer! Batting Eyelashes We started the week off right with a great bar/restaurant called Taco Mac.  LOVE IT.   Over 300 different types of beer, and the food was quite good as well.  How can you go wrong?  After going to another club at night that the band was just not what we were looking for we even returned to Taco Mac just to shoot down a few more beers.  Good thing I brought my I.D. everywhere I went because I had to show it almost everywhere.  They are way more strict down here then we are at home.

We spent the majority of the days at the pool with a cooler and that was a really great way to spend a week.  We also did go to the Aquarium and a day at six flags over Georgia and finally a concert at cowboys.  Yeah… Cowboys.  We saw Driving and Crying there on our last night and it was a pretty good time.  Not really my thing, but neat to see some real country partying.  Even if line dancing isn’t impressive to you,  how about seeing 1,000 people packed on a dance floor all in sync, and nobody bumping into anyone.  Talk about efficient Raised Eyebrow

aquarium

The Aquarium was extremely impressive.  I have never seen anything like it.  Our Aquarium at home is pathetic if compared to this place.  The tanks were enormous,  enormous enough to have whale sharks swimming about.   They also have a glass tunnel going through the tank with a moving sidewalk so you can concentrate on just watching the fish.   Several different sharks catch your attention as you move through the tunnel .  Really awe inspiring.  They have a salt water exhibit that just illuminates the room with bright color and the feel of the reef.  Even a wave will come crashing every few minutes apart.  Just really amazing.  A must see if you ever make it this way.

Six flags over Georgia is a much nicer and cleaner place than the two six flag parks that exist closer by us. The weather didn’t exactly cooperate with us as the rain shut down the park a few times sporadically throughout the day but it was still a good time.  The coasters here were a total blast.  Goliath is there monster coaster and it was the biggest coaster I have been on.  The best feature of it ,  was the way it kept repeating very large hills and of course what goes up…  Must go down… and with much haste! Rolling on the floor They have superman also that once seated,  tilts, so that you are stretched out as if flying like superman.  That was an intense feeling especially on the inversions.  Much fun.

Lots of country food, some quality time with the relatives, and quite a bit of relaxation.  That makes for a great vacation.  Now to do it all again, but this time… Orlando!  Party

Hindered while saving Abel

Posted by admin on Jul 13, 2009 in General

Sometimes it’s not until the day after when you realize you MIGHT have had to much fun the night before.  Today is one of those days.  I need sleep. Cryingconcert Not sure who thought it would be a smart move to go to a concert on a Sunday night, but let me tell you it outright… It is not.  Last night we went to see two bands I had never heard of Hinder, and Saving Abel.  The show was at the Hampton Beach Casino.  It was actually quite a good time, and a great place to see a show.  I just didn’t  feel crowded in at this place.  I would go back… Just not on a Sunday night.

When the alarm clock went off this morning, it wasn’t until after the 3rd snooze hit did I realize this wasn’t just a cruel joke, I had to actually get up and go to work.  OUCH.  Took a nice walk to try and get some fresh air and decided to climb to the top of the tower to try out my new panorama picture app for the iPhone.  It works pretty good I have to say.  This is the Boston skyline as seen from the tower.

What? no what?

Posted by admin on Jul 8, 2009 in General

If I’m being honest,  this July 4th was pretty lame.  My two favorite things about the holiday were a wash.  Every year at 5:00pm on July 4th a snowmobile rider would ride from one park to the other july2009 024across the water.  That is, until this year.  It was a no show.  No idea why and not sure how long he has been doing it but it’s before my time here.   The other thing I love more than anything is the fireworks on the pond.  This year I had to work both evenings (3rd and 4th) and figured dragging my laptop out to the deck wouldn’t take much away from the experience.  Although the view from the deck is spectacular,  with your eyes peeled on the laptop it just wasn’t the same.  It’s also no comparison for the 360 degree experience you get when putting your boat out in the center and just watching it all go off around you.  Next year I will be sure I do better!

I have been quite busy lately with a few different things.  I am currently re-working SWFansite blog and the forums for major changes this weekend.   I also got HR moving again with a podcast, not sure what took me so long there and of course the pool has us running in circles with paperwork and dealing with government entities Confused A more fun thing is our August vacation is almost planned out completely with nothing left to do but enjoy, meanwhile my Georgia vacation is closing in unsuspectingly.   Looking forward to both!  Oh and next year… Watching those fireworks from my Jacuzzi!

start the holidays with a bang… splash?!?!

Posted by admin on Jul 3, 2009 in Fish

IMG_0034Caught this guy this evening on none other than a baby -1 .  That lure kicks some serious ass!  Got my grill all cleaned up today (its been a long time) and then thought a little boat ride was in order with the fishing rod.  I am starting to think I can leave the tackle box at home.

It wasn’t a great day today for boating,  high winds and all that but then finally the rain broke for about a half hour and then the pond looked like glass.  Thought hmmmm, this is how you start the holiday off.   Lemme get a a fishy.

Caught not far from the homestead and he didn’t hit very hard at first and almost fooled me.  When he jumped the first time, it was then I realized I would have a bit of a fight.  He didn’t let me down.  I am only using 4lb test so I had to walk him in gently.   He made me get serious.  I didn’t even have my drag set correctly.   Last minute he ran towards my trolling motor and I knew I couldn’t baby him any longer.   Had to take a chance and really pull his face up and hoped the line would hold.   As you can see…  It did Rolling on the floor

Looking forward to the 4th!

Spawning Carp

Posted by admin on Jun 30, 2009 in Fish

Every year pretty it seems on a cloudy or misty/rainy day the carp in the pond all spawn. It is a bit late this year, but today was that day.  Its a very unusual thing to witness.  Many a bass fisherman july2009 015zoomedare fooled while fishing throwing their lines like mad as the carp break the surface often while spawning.  The picture here is a bit hard to see but if you look carefully what is breaking the surface of the water there is a fin of a crap,  looking just below that to the right you should see another carp swimming along side.  Carp spawn by swimming side by side and rubbing up against each other.  As eggs are released they generally stick to vegetation.  The swimming carp make quite a splash at the surface and this is what makes unsuspecting fishermen go crazy.  Because carp can be so large this splash is a hard to miss!  The eggs will hatch in roughly 4 days from now.  Having my iPhone handy has already proved lucky.  I have never been able to catch a picture of these guys before.

iPhone 3GS

Posted by admin on Jun 29, 2009 in General

OK so the biggest news is I got my iPhone 3GS.  How did I live without this thing before?  I have no idea.  My brief experience with it has left me amazed.  Especially by a little app called Shazam.  Shazam listens to a song being played wherever and tells you what song it is, and of course the option to buy/watch video/blog about it.   It has not been wrong yet,  truly amazing

We are moving forward with all that goes along with the pool.  Financing, so far so good,  pool guy needs to plot our pool for a permit etc.  Think in a couple weeks this will be a reality.  Hopefully the tiki bar too!

Started some major work here on the blog in the background, and then the basic theme was updated so… yeah…  do over!

Fishing has been slow,  the boat has been great, but the weather has… well… sucked.

New prop!

Posted by admin on Jun 12, 2009 in Boating

water is lower this year then ever and of course it was bound to happen.  Finally took out my prop.  Just got the new prop on and oh what a difference.  Old prop was a 14″ x 19 and put a higher pitch on it, went with a 14″ x 21.   Thing is screaming.  To bad I broke my speedometer last year haha :D

Anyway, all is well again.  Boat is riding smooth and I saw the sun for a brief moment.
